Excerpt from Dark Days Tarot Guidebook by Emily Mundy:
Three of Swords
Illusions within are sometimes revealed in the unavoidable, insufferable splitting of the self. Whether this means a romantic, familial, or intrapersonal chasm depends on the question at hand and the position of this card in relation to the overall reading. If the card faces you, a necessary split is approaching. Though, in it, you will gain a precise clarity regarding the separation being for the better. Reversed or left-tilted, the Three of Swords reveals a healing from a break in something very important to the querent. Selfishness is to be avoided if confusion is to be cleared at the end of this current crisis.
Suggested prompts:
upright: disintegration; a splitting
right: “between a rock and a hard place”
left: turbulent emotional state
reversed: confusion; unwillingness to compromise
