Page of Swords - Minor Arcana Tarot Card

Below is an excerpt from the Dark Days Tarot Guidebook by Emily Mundy:

The Page of Swords

The tongue is a sacred organ. The quick one often gets tangled. The ready tongue, ridiculed for its riled blabber. The sharp tongue is the only edged tool that never dulls. It’s an alert conduit of what suddenly enters the mind. A pleasuring muscle. It is framed for articulation. The source of syllabic synthesis. The Page of Swords speaks about the vigilance required to our words when we speak our minds. Intent is inherent in tone; thought, innate to delivery. Because a string of words can sting – because of their wild influence – it is imperative to be careful with our speech and acknowledge the breadth of our linguistic choices. Hold your tongue when needed, bite it, watch your mouth. What seeps through your teeth reflects what’s in your heart.

Suggested prompts:

upright: vigilance in minding what you say

right: increasing attention to the impact of your words

left: loose-lipped language used often

reversed: rampant misuse of language
